Juneteenth Day Party / Junior Board
Dear Potential Sponsor,
What happens to a dream deferred? For too many children in Chicago’s West
Side, it fades—not for lack of talent or passion, but for lack of opportunity.
At Building Brighter Futures Center for the Arts (BBF), we exist to change that
narrative.
As a pillar of the North Lawndale community since 1961, BBF has served as a
safe haven and launchpad for youth and families facing systemic barriers. We
empower our community through six essential pillars—Youth Services, Family
Services, Education, Health Equity, Employment Services, and Community
Engagement—all designed to uplift and unlock potential from the inside out.
But today, we’re writing to you with a very specific purpose: to ask for your
support in funding our 7-week, tuition-free summer dance program for
underserved youth ages 6 to 18
Why Dance? Why Now?
Because dance saves lives.
In communities like North Lawndale, where over 40% of children live below the
poverty line and opportunities for enrichment are scarce, the arts become
more than creative outlets—they become lifelines. Our dance program gives
young people a safe, structured space to express themselves, stay active, build
confidence, and belong.
Last year, thanks to our annual Junior Board’s Juneteenth fundraiser, we raised
enough to provide this transformative experience to 30 students—an effort that
supported over $6,000 in programming.
This year, we aim to do even more—and with your help, we can.
What Your Sponsorship Supports
This summer, BBF plans to offer:
- 7 weeks of tuition-free dance instruction in styles like hip-hop, contemporary, ballet, and cultural dance.
- 3 major public performances: The Bud Billiken Parade, the Danny Davis Parade, and our Back-to-School Bash.
- Safe, consistent summer programming, reducing exposure to community violence and building brighter future, one step at a time.
Each student costs $210 to sponsor.
Our goal: reach at least 30 students this summer.
